It wasn&#8217;t the state that intrigued us but the presentation, a sand sculpture of a lighthouse, waterfront and boat, created by Sandman Matt (Long) a professional sand sculptor whose website, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canyoudigit.com\/\">www.canyoudigit.com<\/a>\u00a0 sells great looking tools to make elaborate structures for when you\u2019re next on a beach.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1350\" style=\"width: 135px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/sand-sculpture.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1350\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1350\" title=\"-sand-sculpture\" src=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/sand-sculpture.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1350\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Sandman Matt work<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Onto Ecuador where kids were climbing a wall in the appropriate harnesses.\u00a0 Next to Alaska (cruises, whales, Inuit art) and then a stop in the African area to collect literature on various places on my bucket list and await what I fear is a deluge of email.\u00a0 We dropped by Morocco and the Northern Canada booth to find out how to get to Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island, an area that has fascinated me since I read Anne of Green Gables.<a href=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Anne.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1351\" title=\"Anne\" src=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Anne.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve worked trade shows and know how exhausting it is to be \u2018on\u2019 for long periods, acting delighted to see each person who passes by, many with inane questions.\u00a0 Everyone we spoke to was charming and gets high marks for helpful.<\/p>\n<p>Despite no particular interest in Jamaica, I found this woman wearing a table as a skirt worth photographing <a href=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Jamaica.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1352\" title=\"Jamaica\" src=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Jamaica-300x281.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Jamaica-300x281.jpg 300w, https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Jamaica-1024x960.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Jamaica.jpg 1637w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>and thought the seminar on getting and claiming travel reward points by Brian Kelly interesting although I doubt if I\u2019ll sign up for multiple credit cards for the sake of bonus sign-on points.\u00a0 Brian had some good tips that you can view at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepointsguy.com\/\">www.thepointsguy.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of the day, we got coffee to revive us as we heard Melissa Clark who writes on food for the New York Times. She spoke about bringing home food as a travel souvenir and passed out samples of Parmesan cheese topped with top quality balsamic vinegar and<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1353\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Parmegan-balsamic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1353\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1353\" title=\"Parmegan balsamic\" src=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Parmegan-balsamic-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Parmegan-balsamic-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Parmegan-balsamic-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Parmegan-balsamic.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1353\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Parmesan with balsamic vinegar and roasted broccoli<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>pieces of shortbread flavored with a particular kind of honey bought on a vacation while explaining how to bring meat home from far away (have it vacuum packed) and the benefits of buying (preferably bottled or canned) food items to recreate the taste of\u00a0 your trip. \u201cIf one picture is worth a thousand words, one taste is worth a thousand pictures.\u201d Melissa, I couldn&#8217;t agree more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/shortbreadjpg.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1354\" title=\"shortbreadjpg\" src=\"https:\/\/marigoldonline.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/shortbreadjpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is Melissa Clark\u2019s recipe for <strong>Rosemary Shortbread<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2 cups all-purpose flour<br \/>\n2\/3 cup granulated sugar<br \/>\n1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh rosemary<br \/>\n1 teaspoon plus 1 pinch kosher salt<br \/>\n1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted cold butter, cut into 1-inch chunks<br \/>\n1 to 2 teaspoons rosemary, chestnut or other dark, full-flavored honey (optional).<\/p>\n<p>1. Heat oven to 325 degrees. In a food processor, pulse together flour, sugar, rosemary and salt. Add butter, and honey if desired, and pulse to fine crumbs. Pulse a few more times until some crumbs start to come together, but don&#8217;t overprocess. Dough should not be smooth.<br \/>\n2. Press dough into an ungreased 8- or 9-inch-square baking pan or 9-inch pie pan. Prick dough all over with a fork. Bake until golden brown, 35 to 40 minutes for 9-inch pan, 45 to 50 minutes for 8-inch. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
